• My Journey: From Bulgaria to London

Fashion has been part of my life since I was a child in Bulgaria, where I first started making clothes for my dolls. It wasn’t long before I was designing for my loved ones, and eventually, I took a leap and began creating clothes for clients. I still remember the excitement of opening my first atelier and store, funded by my parents and launching my first brand. I also remember the challenges— I remember the invitation to a fashion event in London in 2008. I also remember the financial crisis at that time. All of this happened and remained in Bulgaria. In 2015,  something in my personal life happened and boosted me, and I decided to leave everything behind and start over in London— Moving to London wasn’t easy. My child stayed in Bulgaria with my parents, and I felt the pain of watching everything I had worked so hard for slip away. But I was determined to rebuild my life, to rise like a phoenix from the ashes.

• A New Beginning

For a long time, I stepped away from fashion. I even considered changing careers entirely and enrolled in university and a degree in Business and Management. I was proud of that achievement, but my passion for fashion never truly faded. It started to reawaken when my marketing professor told me that an idea I had presented could succeed. That comment sparked something inside me, and before I knew it, I was dreaming about fashion again—creating a new brand that would embody everything I believe in. Just as I was ready to take the plunge, the pandemic hit. Like many, my plans were thrown into chaos. I had to adapt, sewed, and sold masks to survive somehow. But the dream never died. After the pandemic, I returned to Bulgaria, still holding onto my vision. And then, in March 2022, I got to showcase my collection at London Fashion Week that September. That was the sign I needed—I knew it was time to bring Bibi Sakalieva to life.

• Why I Create

The inspiration behind Bibi Sakalieva comes from women.

As a woman and my close friends, we often feel unhappy with our appearances and constantly strive to change something about ourselves, whether it's losing weight or altering our bodies to fit the standards portrayed by fashion magazines. However, we have come to the realisation that we are not perfect. This realisation sparked the idea of creating good clothes for everyfemale figure. Whenever I find inspiration for a new design, I try it on myself. If it looks good on me, despite not having perfect measurements, I believe it will look good on any woman. This drive to make every woman feel beautiful, regardless of their figure, sets Bibi Sakalieva apart from otherbrands in the industry.

Throughout my career, I’ve met many women who aren’t fully happy with their appearance. But I’ve always believed there’s no such thing as an unattractive woman. It’s all about finding the right clothes and accessories and letting your inner light shine through. That’s why I’m dedicated to creating clothes that boost your confidence and make you feel like the best version of yourself. Every piece I design is meant to fit beautifully on all body types to make every woman feel special.
